An anthem for SATB and Organ, composed for Fr David as he retired from his role as Interim Priest-in-Charge of St Stephen’s Church, Canterbury.
Description
Lord, remember David was commissioned for Fr David’s last Sunday as Interim Priest-in-Charge of St Stephen’s Church, Canterbury. The text is selected verses from Psalm 132, beginning as a prayer for David, before blooming into a celebration of all the good we wish God to bless David with (in his retirement), before concluding as the piece started with a quiet prayerful repeat of the opening phrase.
I guess that there is limited call for this type of anthem with these words, but if you happen to have a priest called David who is retiring or moving to a new parish, then this might be just what you’re looking for!

Lyrics
1 LORD, remember David :
and all his trouble;
2 How he sware unto the Lord :
and vowed a vow unto the Almighty God of Jacob;
9 Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness :
and let thy saints sing with joyfulness.
15 This shall be my rest for ever :
here will I dwell, for I have a delight therein.
17 I will deck her priests with health :
and her saints shall rejoice and sing.
18 There shall I make the horn of David to flourish :
I have ordained a lantern for mine Anointed.
